Why Remodel?

There can be many reasons why you want to remodel your inground pool:

  • Pool surface  – The most common issue as a pool ages is the need to resurface. Chips and cracks can alert you to the need to resurface your pool.
  • Refreshing the look — As the years go by a pool can begin to look worn and dated. Adding a new paver deck or refinishing the interior can work wonders in making your inground pool look vibrant and up-to-date.
  • Adding new features – Adding new features can give you the experience of being in a brand new pool along with additional enjoyment and aesthetic pleasure. Consider adding new water features, deck options, a spa, sunseat, or a bench.

Pool & Spa Remodel “Q&A”

Common Pool & Spa Remodeling Questions

How do I know my Pool needs resurfacing?

Look for signs of flaking, or things in the interior finish like chips and cracks. If you see areas of discoloration in the surface that could also be indications that it’s time for a new surface. Pool finishes get pitted and scarred over time due to normal chemical wear and tear and aging. This kind of pitting and spot etching means that you may use more chemicals to maintain proper water quality. It also can result in water loss.

What types of pool surfaces are available?

Basically there are two finishes commonly used today in pool resurfacing — quartz and pebble finish.

How do you add a bench or sunseat to our existing pool?

SurfSide Pools will design a new plan for your pool that offers many choices in the location of benches, expanded steps or a new sunseat in your pool. The new structures are installed prior to the installation of the interior finish through a process of sprayed concrete with reinforce steel. The addition of one of these many popular features transforms the entire look and use of your pool.

Should I replace my tile while I resurface or do down the road at a later time ?

If you have any desire to replace your pool tile you should do it when your new interior finish is installed. Adding tile alone (not with the installation of a new surface) is not recommended and actually caused damage to your interior surface material.

How long does it take to remodel a pool ?

Remodeling a pool can take as little as 2 to 3 weeks (resurfacing only) or 4 to 6 weeks if sunseats, benches or a deck upgrade to pavers are done in addition to resurfacing.

What type of upgraded equipment is recommended when remodeling my pool?

When you’re remodeling your pool is the best time to upgrade and add new features to your pool equipment. Consider adding a Salt System, Colored LED light and Pool automation that includes programming from your “Smart Phone”. Don’t forget that heating options are ideal for Northeast Florida to extend your swim season.
